MICROMASTER is a family of non-contact systems tailored to measure
the diameter of very fine wire, fibers, filaments and similar
products with the utmost accuracy.
MICROMASTER systems are used in production
lines where continuous measurement is required, e.g. wire
drawing, enamelling and coating, but they can also be used
as a test bench station for sample measurement and logging
of QC data.
The MICROMASTER systems extend
the well-known ODAC® series of laser based
diameter scanners into the field of ultra fine products
where the utmost accuracy and resolution are required.
Using the appropriate processor units a comprehensive
evaluation of the measuring data can be guaranteed. Even
roundness can be measured if the measuring head is mounted
onto an oscillating device.

Measurement Principle
The measurement is based on optical
diffraction: The laser light is diffracted (deflected)
by the wire as a function of the diameter. The diffraction
pattern occurring at the CCD receiver is electronically
scanned, analyzed and converted into diameter measurement
values through sophisticated algorithms. Product vibrations
within the measuring field do not influence the accuracy.
Individual measurements are extremely accurate.
This allows statistical values such as min., max., range, to provide
an accurate representation of the smallest and most sudden diameter
variations.
